Make it your joy to pray for and give to all men, women and children in need.
At WADM, we are passionate about striving to approach our work with love, dignity, respect, care and professionalism for the people we service through our ministry. Our primary focus is to demonstrate that we are watching and we “see your need”, and have used our talents, spiritual gifts, creativity, finances and resources to respond.
Who have we helped:
At WADM, we approach our work by connecting with local agencies, community programs, and churches to seek opportunities to partner with them in meeting the needs of people impacted by financial insecurity. Many of the people we encounter are single mothers.
In 2021 we did:
A Cap Stone Kids Summer Outreach Program (NJ)- 6 weeks to respond to the covid epidemic. Children were provided outdoor recreation, arts & crafts activities and cooking workshops. At the end of the program children were blessed with our blessing boxes.
In 2022 we did:
Spring
· Sammon Build Bronx Shelter (Bronx/NYC) – We sponsored an Easter outreach for single mothers and their children, that allowed them to share some fun by picking all their materials to make Easter baskets.

· Floating Hospital (LIC/NYC)-they have requested pajamas – donated 24 pj’s.
Although we've started meeting needs on a small scale, through our pajama, backpack/school supplies and blessing bag projects, we are excited about the opportunity to seek funding through grants and fundraising to grow and expand our donations by connecting with more service opportunities; as well as providing financial support.
Our initial ministry focus is servicing vulnerable individuals and families in need residing in New York City and New Jersey, but we have future hopes of touching lives for the better in other cities or as well.
According to the NYC True Cost of Living Report 2023 by the United Way Organization, the critical need for help is much greater than the federal standards on poverty have reported.
The report shows the following Statistics:
1,298,212 households in NYC struggle with insufficient earnings that do not meet their basic needs according to the True Cost of Living Report which is over three times the amount the US Federal Government Official Poverty Measure (OPM) identified. They report only 416,503 households as “poor”.
· 50% of working households working-age households lack enough income to cover basic needs like: housing, food, healthcare and education
· Overall, 50% of households in NYC lack enough income to meet their basic needs without help from the government, family, or community
· Families in every borough of NYC are struggling to make ends meet, with people of color and households with children being at greater risk of not meeting their basic needs.
· 63% of NYC working-age households with Children struggle
· 52% of 247,077 Married w/children households are living below the True Cost of Living (TCL) – 11% living below poverty line (54,892 households)
· 80% of 218,984 Single Mother w/children are living below the True Cost of Living (TCL) – 31% living below poverty line (85,594 households)
· 69% of 52,676 Single father w/children are living below the True Cost of Living (TCL) 16% living below poverty line (12,020 households)
· Single w/no children 44% of 779,535 households are living below the True Cost of Living (TLC) 15% living below poverty line 263,997
These statistics will help expand government aid and programs for the poor, but it won’t erase the problem, but they help justify the relevancy of our work, and why NYC can benefit from the contributions of non-profit ministries to help these families anyway we can.
